What conditions or events can cause a testicular absence?

The testicular loss may arise following orchidectomy due to torsion, mal-descent, trauma, infection, or cancer. An undescended or ectopic testis can also be the reason for the testicular absence. Also, it can be missing at birth. 

What is a testicular prosthesis?

The testicular prosthesis is a medical device manufactured with material not harmful or toxic to the human body (e.g., silicone). It aids the restoration of a natural appearance of testicular for people who are missing one or both testicles.

Why should I have a testicular prosthesis?

The testicular prosthesis is used only to improve appearance in terms of cosmetics and to calm psychological trauma. It does not have any functions of a real testicle.

How comfortable is the testicular prosthesis? How does it look and feel?

Is the testicular prosthesis noticeable from the outside?

Your testicular prosthesis will not be noticeable from the outside. No one will know that you have a testicular prosthesis until you choose to disclose this information.

Is testicular prosthesis implantation related to orgasms?

Testicular prosthesis implantation carried out by a specialized physician and according to proper surgical techniques is not expected to have any effect on your ability to achieve an orgasm and ejaculation.

Can I still have a child after testicular prosthesis implantation?

Since testicular prosthesis implantation does not interfere with your ability to ejaculate, it is not expected to have any effect on your ability to father a child if you still have another healthy testicular.

Can I still have an MRI with the testicular prosthesis?

Rigicon® testicular prostheses are “MR Conditional.” You can be safely scanned in an MR system meeting the conditions outlined in the device instructions for use. Please refer to the device-specific IFU for further information.
