Testicular loss may arise following orchidectomy for torsion, mal-descent, trauma, infection or cancer. An undescended or ectopic testis can also be the reason of testicular absence. Also it can be missing at birth.

What is testicular prosthesis?

Testicular prosthesis is a medical device, manufactured with a material not harmful or toxic to the human body (e.g. silicone), that is implanted into the scrotum to mimic the physical appearance of a testis.

Why should I have a testicular prosthesis?

The testicular prosthesis prosthesis is used only to improve appearance in terms of cosmetic and to calm psychological trauma. It does not have any functions of a real testicle.

Testicular prosthesis implantation carried out by a specialized physician and according to proper surgical techniques is not expected to have any effect on your ability to achieve an orgasm and ejaculation.

Can I still have a child after penile prosthesis implantation?

Since testicular prosthesis implantation does not interfere with your ability to ejaculate, it is not expected to have any effect on your ability to father a child if you still have another healthy testicular.

Can I still have an MRI with the testicular prosthesis?

Rigicon® testicular prostheses are “MR Conditional”. You can be safely scanned in an MR system meeting the conditions outlined in the device instructions for use. Please refer to the device specific IFU for further information.

The device is indicated for those patients who had suffered from testicular agenesis, or when the testicle has been removed through surgery due to several pathologies and also designed for replacement. Consult your physician for further evaluation and to learn if you are eligible for testicular prosthesis implantation.

What procedure is used to implant a testicular prosthesis?

It should be noted that only surgeons having specialized knowledge of testicular prosthesis implantation should perform such surgeries. The patient placed under either general anesthesia or local anesthesia an incision is usually made in the lower part of the scrotum. A pouch will be created in order to place the implant within.
